The Philippines National Women basketball team, the Gilas Pilipinas, is looking for approval to begin training for the 2022 SEA Games.

Coach Patrick Aquino told media sources that the team has already written a letter to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) requesting guidelines for resuming practice in the coming weeks. Aquino also stated that they are ready to begin training soon in preparation for the upcoming Olympic-style games.

Both the coach and team hope they do not have to return to a bubble-style practice facility but are willing to do whatever is needed to begin training. The Pilipinas Men’s team is currently practicing in a bubble environment at the Moro Lorenzo Sports Center in Quezon City.

There is no word on when training for the 2022 SEA games will begin for the team. The Pilipinas Women’s team is looking to defend their pair of gold medals from the 2019 SEA games, where they won both the 5×5 and 3×3 basketball events.
