The Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) is focused on retaining and developing talent for the future generation of the sport. To obtain their goal they have created many development programs that often include children or young adults. The team has participated in the Asian 5 nations tournament since its initial conception in 2008. The Volcanos even took first place in the tournament a few years back. The Philippine Volcanos also have the under 19 team that consists of boys and girls under the age of 19. This team is used to recruit players for future national teams. To be considered for the team players must match specific qualifications including; born in the Philippines, 1 parent or grandparent born in the Philippines, 3 years of uninterrupted residency in the Philippines. Eligible players are asked to fill out additional information and to submit their application online for consideration.
