The 2022 Southeast Asia Games (SEA Games) have officially ended, and Philippine Athletes had a strong showing earning over 50 medals at this year’s event.
The total medal count for team Philippines was 51 after a late push by the Gilas woman’s basketball team and PH boxers Clark Bautista, Rogen Ladon, and Olympic medalist Eumir Marcial who all earned gold medals on the final day of the competition.
The 31st SEA Games was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, and featured 526 events across 40 separate sports. There were 5,467 athletes from 11 Asian countries: Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Brunei, and Timor-Leste.
Total Medal Count
The overall medal winner of the SEA Games was Vietnam, with 446 total medals, 206 of which were gold. In second place was Thailand, with 329 total medals, 93 of which were gold. Indonesia was third place with 240 total medals, 69 of which were gold.
The Philippines national team came in fourth in the total medal count, a strong showing. The PH national team combined for 228 total medals, 51 of which were gold.
