The Basketball Tournament, also known as TBT 2025, is entering its 12th year of existence and now offers teams a USD 1 million top prize.
The event was first founded in 2014 by Jonathan Mugar, a television producer and real estate mogul. The single-elimination, open-invitation tournament takes place each summer in the United States and has varied in terms of the number of participating teams over the years.
This year, the competition features 64 teams. Following each game, the victorious squad moves its placard forward on an oversized bracket to signify advancement to the next round. The bracket’s design is reminiscent of the All-Valley Karate Tournament bracket depicted in The Karate Kid.
