PBA Basketball legend and current Philippine Sports Commission Commissioner Ramon S. Fernandez will soon launch his foundation, the Ramon S. Fernandez Sports and Youth Development Foundation (RSFSYD), to continue his legacy and facilitate other Filipino athletes to achieve their goals in sports.

El Presidente’s Basketball Career

Ramon S. Fernandez began his professional basketball career in 1975 when the Toyota Comets drafted him. Throughout his 22-year career in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA)he won 4 PBA MVP awards and a record-setting 19 PBA Conference Cups.

To say Fernandez was good would be an understatement. He was a great player that scored 18,996 points in his career, making him the all-time points leader for the league. His antics on the basketball court would eventually land him in the PBA Hall of Fame.

Some details about the Ramon S. Fernandez Sports and Youth Development Foundation are still unknown. Still, in a Facebook post from his wife, Karla Kintanar-Fernandez, she stated the foundation underwent two years of preparation. Mrs. Fernandez went on to say that the foundation will be his lifetime commitment to continuing his advocacy on sports development for Filipino youth athletes.

Deserving Filipino athletes will be able to use the foundation for scholarships and education programs to further their athletic development. The foundation will also feature an emergency fund for athletes who have been disaster-stricken and their co-beneficiaries.

PBA Governor’s Cup Quarterfinals 2022

The PBA Governor’s cup has now begun the quarterfinals, with eight teams battling on the court to qualify for the semifinals. The eight teams still in the race are the Road Warriors, Alaska, TNT, Ginebra, San Miguel, Meralco, Magnolia, and Phoenix.

Betting on the Governor’s Cup is legal with offshore sportsbooks that service Filipino residents. Game line odds have been available at BetOnline’s sportsbook, but as the conference winds down to the top four teams, we expect to see more futures and props for the matchups.

The top two teams are Magnolia (9-2) and the Road Warriors (8-3). However, the Road Warriors have already lost one game in the quarterfinals to Alaska, so the winner of the next game will advance to the semifinals.
