The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) set an eSport record in the Philippines when over 317,000 viewers tuned in to watch the grand finals on May 30th, 2020. The event was aired on the LIGA network for cable subscribers, and on YouTube live.

The event featured four top eSport teams battling for the lion’s share of the prize pool. The four teams that advanced to the playoffs were BREN ESPORTS, ONIC PH, SUNSPARKS, and LB FINALIST. Below you can see the action unfold in the finale between SUNSPARKS and ONIC PH.

SUNSPARKS eSportsIf you watch till the end, you will see that SUNSPARKS defeated ONIC PH for their second straight championship. SUNSPARKS was once thought of as a long shot but has since become the betting favorite after their win last season. The eight-player team won a total of P1,258,000.

Other MLP Leagues around Southeast Asia have also posted big viewership numbers. MLP Indonesia recorded a peak viewership total of 702k online before their “El Clasico” grand finale peaked with over 1 million total viewers.

Esports has garnished enough fans worldwide that online sportsbooks are now starting to offer betting lines on popular matchups like the MLP. At some of the more popular sites like BetOnline, you will find a League of Legends (LOL) page dedicated to LOL events held around the world. You can also find betting lines for other games, including DOTA 2, Rainbow 6, and Madden.

Betting on eSports and overall interest in the league, has never been as popular as it is right now. Filipino bettors can find betting lines for esports events that accept bettors over the age of 18. Typical eSports betting sites offer multiple convenient ways to fund and withdraw accounts. Some sportsbooks will even accept and payout in Bitcoin.
