The news is out: the official Olympic Esports Games will debut in 2027 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The idea of an Olympic-sanctioned Esports competition has been on the radar for a few years now. It was initially set to launch in 2025. However, organizers have pushed the launch date to 2027 to give teams time to prepare. The official Road to the Games will start in 2025, as countries hold competitions to build their Olympic teams.
The Esports World Cup Foundation (ESCF) will become a founding partner of the new Olympic Esports Games. Both the ESCF and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will collaborate with stakeholders to create qualification specifications and align their national esports ecosystems with their jointly held global standards.
IOC President Thomas Bach said: “There is now a very clear roadmap to the historic first-ever Olympic Esports Games. With the Road to the Olympic Esports Games starting this year, the Games are becoming a reality. This is further evidence of the strength of the IOC and the SOPC partnership in many areas.”
The games have not been chosen for the 2027 competition, but fans are expecting StarCraft II, Street Fighter, Rocket League, and NBA2k, among others. Due to their violence, it is still unclear whether a shooter game will be included in the Esports Games.

While odds for the 2027 Olympic Esports Games are not available, we expect to see numerous betting lines associated with the global competition. Betting on Esports is like traditional sports betting with game lines that consist of spread, win, and total odds.
For now, numerous international gaming competitions have odds for DOTA 2, League of Legends, Call of Duty, and more.
