The Games and Amusement Board (GAB) has officially given the ok for contact and non-contact sports to begin play in Metro Manila.
Metro Manila and the National Capital Region (NCR) will be placed under Alert Level 2 from Feb 1st-15th, clearing the way to resume contact sports and other activities. However, sporting events must still follow guidelines put in place by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) and GAB. Live audiences for sporting events will also be subject to government discretion and safety guidelines.
PBA Basketball
The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has recently announced that teams can hold ten scrimmage games starting Feb. 1st. Each team will be allowed up to 10 scrimmage matchups before the 2021 PBA Governor’s Cup will resume on Feb. 11th.
Winter Olympics
The 2022 Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing, China, where restrictions are not currently affecting the games. Philippine athletes will also be in attendance for the games that start on Feb. 4th, 2022.
