Governor's Cup postponed

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has been forced to delay play due to a recent Covid surge.

The PBA has postponed all play in the 20th edition of the Governor’s Cup after the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) raised Metro Manila to an Alert level 3 after a surge of new Covid cases were recorded in the region. The league is currently awaiting further instructions from the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) as to when the conference can resume.

The PBA announced the delay in play with an official statement on Monday, Jan. 3rd, 2021. The announcement stated that the league needs approval from various local governments before resuming the Governor’s Cup.

Fans were recently allowed to return to the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City for a PBA matchup between the Magnolia Hotshots and Barangay Ginebra, where nearly 5,000 fans were in attendance. The PBA was also slated to return to the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City before play was postponed.

Basketball Betting

Betting on the PBA has taken a hit due to the recent announcements and pause in play. However, you can still bet on basketball with NBA odds and other operating basketball leagues.

Our favorite online sports betting site for betting on the Governor’s Cup is BetOnline, as they offer props, game lines, futures, and more for basketball leagues around the world. In addition to basketball, you will also find odds for other sports at BetOnline, including boxing, football, MMA, baseball, and tons of other sports.

Is It Legal To Bet On PBA Odds

Yes, betting on the PBA is entirely legal when using the appropriate betting resources. In the Philippines, domestic sportsbooks are not allowed to offer odds on sporting events within the country, but online sportsbooks can offer those odds as long as they operate outside of the Philippines.

PAGCOR has recently approved domestic sportsbooks to operate online during the pandemic. However, they are still not allowed to offer betting lines of the PBA or any other domestic sporting event. It is unclear whether domestic sportsbooks will be still be allowed to operate online once the pandemic is under control.
